Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Services
Located outside of Johannesburg, Stepping Stone provides palliative care in all settings. The majority of their work is in the community at the patients’ homes. Their mission is three-fold: provide high-quality, specialist palliative care to people whose life-limiting conditions no longer respond to curative treatment – from diagnosis to death; to meet their physical, psycho-social, spiritual, and social needs, and also help ensure that their families are supported both through and after this challenging period; and to train, support, and encourage other care providers to practice good palliative care. They are active members of the regional and national palliative care associations.
They also maintain a charity shop to bring some sustainable income to operate the organization and are active on social media to raise awareness of the important work they do. Stepping Stone endeavors to continuously learn and improve the services they provide to the community. Through partnership, they seek mentorship, sharing of knowledge and ideas for fundraising.
