Not ready to become a Partner? Provide a scholarship opportunity for a nurse or social worker in Africa and become a Champion for Education!
In many African nursing and social work programs, there is no training which exposes the students to palliative care. Formal training in palliative care is greatly needed to provide nurses and social workers with the much needed skills to handle patients with life threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and cancer. The Champion Program lets any individual or organization fund a specific scholarship.
Like our Partnership program, becoming a Champion provides a unique opportunity to support the global development of hospice and palliative care, furthering our mission to expand cultural understanding and relationships between staff and volunteers of U.S. and developing country organizations.
“The burden of diseases needing palliative care is so high and continues to increase yet there are very few trained palliative care service providers so support is needed in order to expand the service especially to the rural areas.” – Past Scholarship Recipient
Ololade Fayemi received a nursing scholarship. Read more about her in Focus on Compassion – Summer Edition 2016.
This is a great way for individuals, healthcare organizations, schools, universities, civic clubs, community service agencies, and others to make a difference by providing compassionate care to those in need.
Your organization can become a Champion by donating what you can to help a student reach their scholarship goal:
